Baseball Splits Double-Header at Jefferson
The SUNY Adirondack Baseball team split a pair of road games this afternoon against Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY.
The Timberwolves got out to a hot start today and won the first game by the score of 15-2. Evan Bowers got things started off right with a lead off hit and would score the first run of the game a few batters later to take a 1-0 lead. They took that 1-0 lead into the third inning when they would score eight more to take a 9-0 lead. The Timberwolves followed that inning by scoring six more in the fourth to end this one early.
Zach Vavasour got the win on the mound for SUNY Adirondack. Vavasour pitched a complete game allowing only two runs off two hits. He had seven strikeouts on the day and did not allow one walk.
SUNY Adirondack had nine hits in this game. Eric Corhouse and Evan Bowers each had two hits to lead the Timberwolves. Corhouse scored two runs and collected two RBIs and Bowers scored two runs win an RBI.
The second game of the afternoon did not go as well as the first for SUNY Adirondack. The Timberwolves started off the game well, going up 2-0 in the first inning off a Zach Malek double that scored two runs. Then finding themselves down 5-2 in the fifth inning, a double from Joe Battista scored three runs to tie the game at 5-5. Then with two outs in the sixth inning, Jefferson hit a two-run homerun to win the game.
Josh Brase started the game for SUNY Adirondack. He pitched four innings allowing five runs on eleven hits while picking up six strikeouts.
After the split today, the SUNY Adirondack Baseball team finishes the regular season with a 15-21-1 record including a conference record of 12-9-1. They finished as the #3 seed in the Eastern Section of Region III and will move on to play in sub-regionals on Saturday May 11th.
