Softball Dominates, goes 2-0 at TC3
The SUNY Adirondack Softball team put on a great performance Wednesday afternoon, beating out Tompkins Cortland Community College twice by the scores of 28-1 and 10-2 in Dryden, NY.
The first game of the afternoon was the most impressive game of the year for the Timberwolves. Their 28 runs came off 26 hits, both season highs for the team. The Timberwolves got it going early and never let off the gas. They would score three early runs in the first inning, followed by eight in the second, and eleven more in the third to close this one out early. The eleven run third inning was highlighted by a grand slam home run from Hannah Grady, her first of the season.
Everyone got involved on offense in this game with the whole lineup getting hits and scoring runs. Kaylee Coon had a game to remember, going 6-6 at the plate with two home runs, six RBIs, while scoring five runs. Madeline Mann also had a monster game, she went 5-6 in at bats while scoring five runs. Kiley King and Victoria Dupuis each ended with four hits in the game, including a home run for both of them. Melina Morris also hit a home run in the second inning, her first on the season.
Hannah Grady was the winning pitcher for the Timberwolves. She pitched five strong innings, only allowing the one run off two hits while striking out four batters. She showed total control all day, only allowing one walk in the game.
The Timberwolves did not cool off in between games, starting the second game off strong. They scored five runs in the first inning to get things going. Hannah Grady highlighted the first inning with a line drive to center field with two outs that scored two runs.
Behind another great pitching performance, this time by Breanna MacDuff, the Timberwolves would be able to coast their way to another win. MacDuff went the full five innings allowing only two runs off two hits while only walking one batter. She also led the team on offense with three RBIs in the game.
Victoria Dupuis led the Timberwolves in this game with two hits in four at bats and she scored three runs.
With the two wins today, the Timberwolves Softball team is now 8-14 on the season. They have been on a roll as of late however, going 7-1 in their last eight contests.
The Timberwolves will be back in action on Saturday May 4th when they will face off against Finger Lakes Community College at Morse Athletic Complex in Glens Falls, NY. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
