Softball Splits a Double Header with Broome
The SUNY Adirondack Softball team split a pair of close games this afternoon against SUNY Broome. Broome was on the winning side of the first game by the score of 11-10. The second game of the double header was a win for the Timberwolves with a score of 13-12.
In the first game of the afternoon, SUNY Adirondack trailed SUNY Broome by 4 runs going into the sixth inning. They were able to put up 5 runs in that frame giving them the lead, but it would not last for long. Broome was able to add 2 more runs in the seventh giving them a 1 run lead. In the bottom of the seventh, Rachel Yattaw scored on a Kiley King double to tie the game and force extra innings. Broome was able to score a run in the top of the eighth and there was no answer from the Timberwolves.
The second game of the double header was another close game that needed an extra inning to decide a winner. Maddi Mann and Victoria Dupuis both had an RBI double in the extra inning to secure the victory for the Timberwolves.
Kaylee Coon picked up the win on the mound for the Timberwolves today, throwing a complete game.
SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves collected 11 hits in this game. Mann, Ringer, Grady, and Dupius all managed multiple hits for SUNY Adirondack. Mann led the Timberwolves with four hits in as many at bats.
The Timberwolves will be back in action tomorrow when they will travel to face Onondaga Community College, first pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
