Softball Sweeps Finger Lakes Community College
The SUNY Adirondack Softball team went 2-0 in a double-header against Finger Lakes Community College this afternoon at Morse Athletic Complex in Glens Falls, NY.
The first game of the afternoon went right down to the wire but the Timberwolves were able to hold off for the 8-7 victory. A couple three run innings in the first and second gave the Timberwolves the early lead. They would score two more runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles from Hannah Grady and Taylor Ringer to take an 8-5 lead. Finger Lakes would put two runs on the board in the final inning to make it interesting but the Timberwolves were able to do just enough to walk away with the win. Kaylee Coon was the leader on offense. She went 3-4 in at bats with two doubles. She also batted in three runs and scored one herself.
In the second game of the double header, it would be Finger Lakes getting out to the early lead this time around. They would hold a 6-1 lead going into the fourth inning when the Timberwolves would find their groove. SUNY Adirondack put up twelve runs in the fourth inning to not just come back, but put the game out of reach. Two more runs in the fifth inning for the Timberwolves would end the game with a final score of 15-6. Kaylee Coon was the star on offense yet again for the Timberwolves. She went 2-4 in this one with a home run and a triple, scoring four runs with two RBIs. Kiley King and Katie Murphy also both had two hits in this one. King collected three RBIs while scoring two runs herself. Murphy accounted for one run and one RBI.
Hannah Grady was the winning pitcher for game two. She came in as relief and pitched three innings giving up zero hits and four walks that turned into two runs.
Following the two wins this afternoon, the SUNY Adirondack Softball team is now 10-14 on the season and have now won seven straight contests.
The Timberwolves will look to keep their win streak going tomorrow when they will face off at home against Monroe Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM at Morse Athletic Complex in Glens Falls, NY.
