Timberwolves Finish 9th In Nation
Day 2 of the NJCAA Bowling National Tournament kicked off bright and early this morning, putting the squad to the test. Luckily Coach Li had put them through several practice tests and they passed with flying colors. For many of the teams this was the first multi day event that they had been subject to this season, but the Timberwolves scheduled back to back tournaments early in the season and practiced with sport shot the week leading up to the NJCAA Nationals and that paid off big time as they performed admirably in the biggest tournament of the year.
Day 2 began with the final 3 games of the team event. The Timberwolves were chasing Suffolk for 8th and were able to overtake them in the team event to place 8th in the nation in that event, but it wasn't quite enough to surpass them in the overall as they remained in 9th going into the baker games.
The team did well in the baker games as well, finishing 7th in the first 3 game set, 8th in the second set and tied for 6th in the final baker set and event of the tournament. Unfortunately the hot finish didn't account for enough points to catch the also red hot Suffolk squad, but it was enough to hold onto a top 10 finish in the nation.
The overall standings saw Michael Boyce come in 19th overall with a 179.2 average. He was followed by Adrien Hollister at 172, good for 27th. Cody Seaver finished up in 42nd with a 159.6 average, Gervais Edwards played through upper arm pain to write himself in at 50th and Alex King came in 66th. Joe Comitini played the role of super sub during the tournament, which took a toll on his average, but his contribution was important to the overall performance of the team as he filled in and bowled some big games throughout the two days.
