Timberwolves - Conference Champions again!
SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves Volleyball won the 2018 Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference Champion with 6-0 Conference record.
SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves volleyball defeated Herkimer Community College 3-1 and have been named the 2018 Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference Champion! The Timberwolves' last conference championship was in 2014. The scores were: 25-15, 13-25, 25-17 and 25-16. Herkimer handed the Adirondack Timberwolves (6-0) their first set-loss in the conference matches.
The Timberwolves utilized their peak performance on offense and defense to take the first set 25-15. Karley Hertzner and Morgan Bellanger each finished with 3 kills. Herkimer rallied back to full strength in the 2nd set with a game score of 13-25. The Timberwolves regained control in the middle of the 3rd set at 17-10. Coach Li commended Faith Spangler's excellent offence play; 3 kills and 2 blocks in the set. Faith is the Co-captain and middle hitter. Timberwolves finished the set at 25-17. The Timberwolves kept the momentum in the 4th set to finish the game with 25-16.
Karley Hertzner led the team's offense with 17 kills, 10 aces and 4 blocks. Jana Depalo added 11 kills. Faith Spangler played her best game of the season with 8 kills and 3 blocks. Morgan Bellanger led the team's defense with 18 digs. Leah Bowen and Megan Frisk reinforced the T'wolves defensive line with 16 and 17 digs, respectively. The setter, Breanna MacDuff controlled the pace of the game with 36 assists, 10 digs and 3 aces. The Timberwolves will play their last NJCAA regional POD tournament at Fulton Montgomery CC this Saturday.
