Marsh Takes Hard Luck Loss To Bergen
The Timberwolves didn't have much time to savor the big win over 3rd ranked Northampton before they had to rev it back up to take on Bergen in the second game of their opening day double header in Myrtle Beach. Ben Marsh took the mound and pitched admirably, although he would take the tough luck loss despite allowing no earned runs.
Marsh pitched 5.2 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 walks and only allowing 1 run. The lone run came in the bottom of the 5th inning on a ground ball that could have been the inning ending ground out, but became the only run of the game after being misplayed by third baseman Greg Johnson.
The offense never got going against the Bergen starting pitcher as they struck out 10 times and only mustered 4 hits, with Jordan Prehoda's double being the only extra base hit of the game for the Timberwolves.
Prehoda went 1 for 3 with a double. Johnson, Josh Brase and Jared Winkle each went 1 for 2 on the day. Dean Kohanek relieved Marsh and pitched a third of an inning without giving up a hit.
The Timberwolves next play Illinois Valley on March 12th as they continue their opening week in Myrtle Beach.
