13 Run 2nd Inning Tames Timberwolves
The Timberwolves jumped out to an early lead in the second game of the day with a 5 spot in the first inning, powered by 6 walks and a hit by pitch on a cold and windy afternoon. Both teams would struggle with command, both on the mound and in the field, due to the weather conditions and the game would be difficult to watch at times as the runs kept coming along with the errors, walks, wild pitches and hit batters.
Cecil put up 13 runs in the 2nd Inning as they took advantage of 11 hits including a 2 run home run, 4 free passes and an error to score more runs in the inning than the Timberwolves would score in the game. They would push across 8 more runs en route to a 22 to 12 victory.
The Timberwolves offense showed plenty of fire power on the day as they scored a run in every inning of play and totaled 12 runs, normally plenty to put a team in the win column. 6 different batters drove in a run and 7 different runners scored a run in the contest. Matt Zita led the offense with 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored as his bat continues to sizzle. Erik Wettersten reached base 3 times on a walk and 2 hit batters. Vincent Valenti was 1 for 3 with a double, 3 runs scored, an RBI and a walk.
The Timberwolves next play March 25th at Westchester.
