Mr. Perfect Dominant In Win
Ben Marsh took the hill for the first time since spinning a perfect game against Columbia-Greene and spun another web of dominance that had the Raiders batsmen all caught up.
Marsh faced the minimum and only allowed one runner to reach on error through 4 and 1/3 innings before walking two batters in the 5th. A single broke up the no hitter in the 6th.
Unfortunately for the Timberwolves the Raiders were equally dominant from the bump as they were held hitless through 4 by Bradley Smith before an Erik Wettersten single broke up his no hitter in the 5th. Smith and Marsh exchanged zeroes in the 6th, but Smith would falter in the 7th. Smith retired the first two hitters of the inning before facing off against Erik Wettersten who singled to become the only Timberwolves batsman with multiple hits. He finished the contest 2 for 3. Coach Job then made the move of the game, pinch hitting Vincent Valenti for Brent McGhee, who promptly tripled home the go ahead run with a shot to right field. Jared Winkle followed him up with an RBI single. John Stewart kept the carousel spinning with a single and Ramon Acosta put another quarter in, driving in Winkle with a fly ball into right field that was misplayed. Smith retired Aaron Cook to mercifully stop the bleeding, but that was plenty for Marsh. He allowed a run on a hit batter, walk and single, but secured the victory for the green and gold.
The Timberwolves next play game two of their double header against Fulton Montgomery.
