5 Early Runs End Win Streak
The Timberwolves scored a run in the top of the 1st, but gave up 5 in the bottom of the inning, which would be enough to end the winning streak.
Aaron Cook, Greg Johnson and Jordan Prehoda singled in the first with Prehoda driving in Zita, who reached on a fielder's choice, to give the Timberwolves the early lead, but the Raiders bounced back and bounced high in the bottom of the inning. 3 free passes, an error and 3 singles led to 5 Fulton Montgomery runs.
Jared Winkle doubled in the 2nd inning, but was thrown out attempting to advance to third on a fly out to end the rally. Eric Corhouse walked three more batters in the 2nd before giving way to Joe Micare who ended the inning with a ground out to get out of trouble. The Region III foes exchanged zeroes until the 6th inning when the Raiders plated their 6th run, taking advantage of 3 errors and a passed ball.
The Timberwolves would fall by a final score of 6 to 1.
Joe Micare pitched well in relief, logging 4 and 1/3 innings, giving up only 2 hits and an unearned run while striking out 3. Greg Johnson went 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
The Timberwolves next play Tuesday, April 17th at Hudson Valley.
