Timberwolves Sweep Schenectady
The Timberwolves completed the season sweep of Schenectady with a 17 to 5 victory.
The contest was a lot closer than the score implies as it was 5 to 5 after 4 innings. Jared Winkle walked and scored in the 5th inning to give the green and gold a 1 run advantage, which was a huge play in the game as it turned the momentum back in their favor... momentum that they would turn into a waterfall in the 6th with an 11 run outburst. Erik Wettersten went 2 for 2 in the inning with a single and double, Aaron Cook collected 2 hits and Eric Corhouse followed suit with 2 of his own to open the flood gates.
The story of the game may have occured in the 6th inning with the 1 inning appearance of Aaron Cook on the mound. His return to the mound would mean trouble for Region III as he was the top starter for the team last year before injuring his arm. He struck out two and walked 1 in his inning of work.
Cook ended his night 4 for 5, Corhouse was 3 for 3, Erik Wettersten continued his torrid week going 3 for 4 with a double and a walk, Matt Zita was 2 for 3 with 2 walks and Jayson Mullen was 2 for 3 with a walk.
The Timberwolves next play Saturday, May 5th at Mohawk Valley.
