Acosta Powers Timberwolves To Victory Over Raiders
Ramon Acosta hit his first career home run 3 days ago at Schenectady and must have felt like he owed the home crowd an encore performance because he wasted no time collecting home run number two of his career and his first in front of the raucous home crowd, and of course rolling camera phones. His 3 run bomb in the bottom of the 6th inning punctuated a 15 to 7 win for the green and gold.
They took a 3 run lead in the first inning behind RBI knocks for Aaron Cook, Greg Johnson and Jordan Prehoda and would extend that to 9 through 3 innings. The Raiders began to chip away at the lead in the 4th inning, getting to starter Zach Vavasour for a couple of runs, but our offense returned fire immediately with an Eric Corhouse RBI single to extend the lead to 10-2 in the 4th.
Fulton Montgomery roared back into the game in the 5th inning as they plated 5 runs before Acosta showed off the cannon from center fielder and cut down a potential 6th run at the plate.
With the game at risk, Coach Job turned to Vincent Valenti for a third game in a row to close the door and once again he calmly and efficiently took care of business, packed his brief case and left the office. He pitched the final 2 innings, allowing only one hit and striking out two.
The Timberwolves play Fulton Montgomery in game two up next.
