Smith Exceptional in Loss to North Country
Demani Smith was a bright spot on a dark box score as North Country defeated the Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves fell behind by 10 in the first 3 minutes of the game and it only went down hill from there as the Saints seemingly scored at will on Coach Haskell's defense. The Saints took a 57 to 30 lead into the locker room and increased that lead to 129 to 76 by the time the buzzer sounded.
Tony Green and Demani Smith were the only Timberwolves in double digit scoring, but the story was Demani Smith. Smith continued his dominat play as he punished the interior of the Saints defense with inside moves, hook shots, up and unders, power lay ins and mid range jumpers all night. He would end the contest with 23 points on 11-19 shooting from the field. He was tremendous in every aspect of the game as he only turned the ball over once despite having the offense run through him for much of the night and he led the team in rebounding with 7. If there is a negative to his night it would be the 5 fouls, but they came along with 3 blocks and many more altered shots.
The Timberwolves next play this Saturday against Jefferson at home.
