Timberwolves Defeat Cannoneers
Demani Smith and Shea Irish willed the Timberwolves over the Cannoneers with 46 combined points.
Coach Haskell and his squad had a short delay to begin their contest as the Timberwolves women were a little busy winning a nail biter in overtime, but it didn't phase Demani Smith, Shea Irish and the Timberwolves at all. They came out firing on all cylinders and played the Cannoneers to a tie at the half. The second half was all Timberwolves as they could do no wrong and took full advantage of open shots and clear passing lanes for the duration of the 20 minute half. At one point Elijah Davis brought the crowd to their feet with a close quarters, behind the back pass to a waiting Demani Smith who finished at the rim. The crowd stayed up the rest of the game and the Timberwolves fed off the energy as big shot after big shot fell for the home team, mostly from the palm of Shea Irish who drilled 5 deep balls including one from the border of Warren and Washington Counties.
Treyshan Bradley was the catalyst for an explosive offense today as he found Demani Smith and Shea Irish all night to the tune of 8 assists and only turned the ball over once. Smith ended the game with a double, double with 23 points and 12 boards and Shea Irish tied him for the lead in scoring with 23 of his own, behind 15 points from behind the arc. Elijah Davis added 11.
On the defensive side of the ball Elijah Davis and Demani Smith guarded the rim from the onset. They combined for 6 blocks and 4 steals on the night with ample altered shots and deflections not showing up in the box score.
After a great win, the Timberwolves next play at rival Hudson Valley on Wednesday the 15th.
