Top 15 Ranked Mohawk Valley Survives Trip to SUNY Adirondack
The Timberwolves gave top 15 ranked Mohawk Valley everything they could handle, but couldn't hold off the second half offense of the Hawks.
The Timberwolves came into this game ready for a battle and took it to the Hawks early in the game. The Timberwolves defense smothered the Hawks as they struggled to find any rhythm and were only able to put up 33 points in the first half. The Timberwolves only trailed by 5 due to the power offense of Demani Smith who had 9 points, mostly in the paint, in the first half. He would end the game with 17 points and 6 rebounds to go with his team leading 3 assists and 3 steals.
The Hawks began to pull away at the 10 minute mark of the second half despite the best efforts of Shea Irish, who connected on 3 three point field goals in the second half to end the game with 16 points. He was extremely efficient with his shooting, going 6 for 11 and 4 for 7 from beyond the arc.
Late in the game several of the Timberwolves reacted to what could be considered taunting from one of the Mohawk Valley players, which culminated in a technical foul for guard Cam Jett. Cooler heads prevailed, but the Timberwolves refused to lay down for the ranked opponent even as the clock ticked away.
The Timberwolves next play against Corning at home on Saturday, December 2nd.
