Timberwolves Drop Nail Biter
The Timberwolves took it down to the wire, but weren't quite able to overcome late turnovers as they fell 88 to 94 at Columbia-Greene.
The contest was a nail biter throughout as the Timberwolves were within 5 for much of the game after falling behind by 15 in the first few minutes of the game. They took a 38 to 43 deficit into the locker room and came out hitting on all cylinders as Mike Tillman, Jordan Green and Elijah Davis led a steady barrage of long distance fire, going a combined 10 for 15 from deep. It was a steady and balanced offensive attack all game as 5 of Coach Haskell's players scored double digit point totals led by Green's 17. Green was a catalyst as he shot 6 of 10 from the floor and 3 of 4 from beyond the arc including a huge mid range shot to tie the game late and a 3 point field goal earlier that gave them the lead with 8 minutes left in the contest. Tillman was also exceptional as he went 5 of 7 from the floor and 3 of 4 from 3 point land including a game tying circus lay in with under 2 minutes to play. He ended with 14 points. Shea Irish collected 13 points despite a poor shooting effort from deep, but led the team in rebounding for the first time this season with 9 boards, several of which were offensive boards late in the game leading to lay ins. Demani Smith cashed in 11 points through foul trouble. Elijah Davis grabbed 7 boards and 15 points.
The Timberwolves next play Monday, January 22nd at Schenectady.
