March 1
Herkimer, NY
Region 3, Division III Men's Basketball Quarterfinals
SUNY Adirondack Men's Basketball earned a #5 seed to the basketball quarterfinals of the Region 3 tournament. They were up against #4 Tompkins Cortland, a team the Timberwolves beat by just two points during the regular season.
Adirondack was hit with bad luck just minutes into the start of the game when Tyre Williams reached for an interception and dislocated his shoulder. After being attended to by medical staff, he returned to the game, but not at 100%. The team held together and it was a closely contested game until the last part of the first half. Inconsistencies plagued the team and by the end of the half Adirondack was down by 15 points. The Timberwolves found a better path in the second half and chipped away at the Panther's lead. It was a two-point game with just six seconds on the clock. Adirondack outscored Tompkins Cortland by 12 points in the second have but it wouldn't be enough to take the win. Final score 70-67, Tompkins-Cortland
Cam Majors put up big numbers for the Timberwolves. He had a double-double with 25 points, 20 rebounds and 3 assists. Donnell Campbell had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal. Ben Aprilante contributed 12 points, 6 rebounds and pairs of assists, steals and blocks.
This game closes out the 2023-24 season for Adirondack. They finished 12-14 on the season and advancing farther in Region 3 than any other team in program history.
