Bio

Maxx Sweet, a dedicated basketball coach and proud basketball alumn of SUNY Adirondack, has exemplified leadership since taking over the program in 2021. During his tenure, Coach Sweet has led the program to incredible success including:

  • The first winning record and home playoff appearance in 25 years
  • 4 wins against top 10 nationally ranked programs
  • 6 players named to the Dean’s list including coached the program to the highest team GPA on record
  • Top 5 finish and a first round playoff bye in Region 3 during the 2023-24 season (advancing farther in Region 3 than any other team in program history)

Most Importantly; Coach Sweet has done all of this while graduating players that have gone on to continued success after graduation. SUNY Adirondack Director of Athletics Zachary Schwann stated: “Coach Sweet’s success isn’t just measured in wins on the basketball court; but by the growth, unity, and resilience cultivated within each player that has participated in the program. He is a winner on and off the court!”

Before taking over the program at Adirondack; Coach Sweet spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern University, Centenary University, and Hiram College. At all of these institutions, Maxx led national recruiting efforts and helped lead each program to continued success.

In 2023, Sweet was selected to be a head coach at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Academy in Memphis Tennessee, coaching some of the nations top prospects.

Maxx graduated from Eastern University with a Degree in Business Management and also earned a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration from Northcentral University.
