Boyce Takes 1st Place at Mohawk Valley
The Timberwolves Bowlers headed west to Utica to participate in the Mohawk Valley Invitational this weekend. Many Region III opponents took part as well as Rochester Institute of Technology who took third at the event. Erie paced the tournament and took home the top spot, followed by Hudson Valley, Rochester Institute of Technology, Mohawk Valley, Corning, SUNY Adirondack and Herkimer.
The green and gold had a tough time with the first game of the day as there was a sticky substance on the approach, which was made worse when water was used to clean the area. All of the bowlers on both lanes affected struggled with the compromised lanes, but were able to regroup and quickly get back on the right track after being reassigned to different lanes. The high in game one was 164, put up by Adrien Hollister who immediately jumped to 203 after the lane change in game 2. Cody Seaver found his mechanics in game 3 and led with a 177. Game 4 saw both Hollister and Seaver break 190 before moving into the singles portion of the event, where Michael Boyce would dominate.
Boyce put up astronomical scores of 228, 245, 213 and 231 to take home first place in the singles event. Cody Seaver wasn't far off with a great run of 181, 207, 214 and 211 for a 6th place finish in the singles event. Boyce finished 8th in the overal with Seaver coming in at 12th.
Joe Comitini and Alex King both put up their intercollegiate highs of 203 over the weekend.
