Softball Opens Season In Florida
Timberwolves Softball traveled to Florida to find some warm sand and green grass to open their season. They found it at Cocoa Beach and opened their season against Central Lakes out of Minnesota.
Unfortunately the season started off with a bang for our opponents as their leadoff took Elizabeth Richards deep to begin the game and the Timberwolves would fall behind 4-0 in the top of the first inning. Not to be outdone though, they would roar back in the bottom of the inning for 3 of their own runs. Danielle Flint singled home Carly Hildenbrandt and Hannah Salmon would score in the inning as well before Flint came home on a passed ball.
Central Lakes would put the contest away with 2 home runs and 7 more runs through the 4th to end Richards' day.
Bailey Hasemann came on in relief and pitched lights out for the final 3 innings as the Timberwolves tried to dig their way back into the game. Kiersten Brown doubled home a run in the 4th and Flint crushed a 2 run homer in the 5th and singled home another run in the 7th, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit as they fell 11 to 7.
The Timberwolves next play Spoon River in the second game of their opening double header.
