Grady's First Career Homer Caps Big Win
Coach Celeste's squad wasted no time getting on the board in game two against the Cannoneers as they plated 2 runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Elizabeth Richards doubled, Hannah Salmon reached on error before scoring on RBI singles from Danielle Flint and Kaylee Coon respectively. Richards then struck out the side to get the offense right back to work and they rewarded her with 2 more runs in the 2nd. 4 straight singles plated the first run and Hannah Salmon drove in the 2nd with a grounder that the Jefferson defense turned into a great defensive double play. Richards put up another 0 in the 2nd and the bats once again showed their appreciation with another insurance run. Carly Hildenbrandt singled and was driven in by a Kait Sarti single later in the inning to give the home team a 5-0 lead.
Jefferson took advantage of a leadoff double to get on the board in the 3rd, but the Timberwolves struck back in the 4th with a 4 run inning. Danielle Flint, Hannah Grady and Kait Sarti drove in runs to extend the lead to 9-1. Jefferson bounced back with a couple of unearned runs in the 5th and pushed across a couple more in the 6th, but another 4 run inning, capped by Hannah Grady's first career home run, would seal the deal and the sweep for the home team.
Danielle Flint continues her dominance at the plate with a 3 for 4 day including a home run and 3 RBI. Richards went 2 for 4 with a double and Kiersten Brown went 2 for 3 with a double. Kaylee Coon collected 2 more hits after homering in the first game and Kait Sarti put a great game together at 3 for 4 with a stolen base.
The Timberwolves next play Friday, April 20th at Columbia-Greene.
