Timberwolves Drop Extra Inning Affair to Broome
The Timberwolves and Hornets sent their top arms to the mound and were locked in a pitcher's duel that took extra innings to decide.
Bailey Hasemann pitched extremely well, tossing all 8 innings, giving up 8 hits, striking out 3 and only allowing 1 earned run all night. She was unblemished through 3, before giving up an unearned run in the 4th. She then cruised threw the next 3 innings before the Hornets got to her for a double and triple in the 8th inning for her first earned run. Due to the international tie breaker rules being utilized she gave up 2 runs that inning and after the green and gold failed to score in the 9th, allowed the free runner to score after a bunt and ground ball to the infield in the 9th to take the tough luck loss.
Broome's pitcher held the Timberwolves hitters in check for much of the night, but Elizabeth Richards was unfazed as she tallied a 3 for 4 night, scored a run and drove in another. Kaylee Coon and Hannah Salmon each doubled with Coon's driving in a run and Kiersten Brown plated a huge run in extra innings with a single through the infield.
The Timberwolves take on the Hornets in game two of the double header immediately.
