Valiant Effort Ends in Defeat
The Timberwolves fought back in a dominant 3rd quarter, but fell short at North Country.
The Timberwolves traveled to North Country to take on the Saints in a Region III matchup and it was a nail biter as the teams exchanged runs throughout the game. The Saints took a 6 point lead into the half, but Coach Quattrocchi's half time pep talk must have been Shakespearian as the ladies came out ready to fight in the third quarter, tying it up at 42 with a 16 to 9 point performance. Unfortunately the Saints would rebound and equally dominate the 4th quarter to take the 61 to 47 victory.
Kaicey Sardina led all scorers with 12 despite only attempting 5 field goals. Most of her damage came from the free throw line where she was a perfect 6 for 6. She also shot passing lanes all night to the tune of 6 steals and led the team in rebounding with 6. Ashley Caba struggled from the field, but managed 10 points on the night to go with 4 steals, 2 assists and 3 rebounds. Kylee Brand dropped 10 points in the paint, executing beautiful rolls for the first 4 points of the game and showing her versatility by hitting on 2 deep three balls. Briana McKinney added 9 points despite being a little off from deep, ending the game 3 for 18 from the field.
The Timberwolves next play this Saturday at home versus Jefferson.
