Timberwolves Defeated by # 3 Nationally Ranked Mohawk Valley
3rd ranked Mohawk Valley showed why they are ranked so highly in a dominant performance on Ben Davis Court.
The Timberwolves were overmatched by a bigger team from the opening tip to the final buzzer against 3rd ranked Mohawk Valley. Mohawk Valley jumped out to a quick lead forcing Coach Quattrocchi to call two early timeouts, but it wouldn't slow down the scoring onslaught from the Hawks. They would lead 32 to 8 after 1 quarter and took a 55 to 22 lead into the locker room, which was consistent with the final score of 101-49.
Despite the hounding defense of the Hawks, Brianna McKinney put up one of her most efficient scoring games of the year going 4 for 15 from the floor for 17 points and connecting on 3 of her 8 three point attempts. Those numbers are even a little misleading as one of her three point attempts was a buzzer beater attempt and two others were desperation threes at the end of a shot clock. Her shot kep the Hawks honest as they had to defend beyond the arc all night. Kylee Brand also put up a solid effort with 11 points on 8 field goal attempts and a perfect 4 for 4 night from the free throw line. Kaicey Sardina led the team in both rebounding with 5 and assists with 2.
The Timberwolves next play at home versus Corning on Saturday, December 2nd.
