Timberwolves Swat Hornets 81-49
The Timberwolves traveled to Broome and came away with a resounding victory, 81 to 49.
The Timberwolves traveled to Broome to take on the Hornets and put on a display of offense for the excitable and raucous crowd. It was a close game in the first quarter as the Timberwolves led with a balanced offense to the tune of 15 first quarter points, but Broome responded with several deep ball hits for 13 points of their own. The second quarter was weighted much more heavily toward Adirondack as they pulled away and led 36 to 24 at the half. They would extend that lead even farther in the third quarter to lead 61 to 31 en route to their 81 to 49 victory.
Ashley Caba led all scorers with 24 as she drove the lane all day against the Broome defenders and finished at the rim aggressively both in the fast break and the set offense. She also set her teammates up well collecting 9 assists, barely missing a double, double. Kylee Brand dropped 16 points due in large part to her dominant night on the offensive boards. She grabbed 6 of them which led to easy put backs and free throws. Both Kaicey Sardina and Alexis Smith added 14 with Sardina filling up the stat sheet. She compiled 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals to complement her scoring efforts. Smith had a great night from behind the arc going 4 for 8.
The team shot extremely well as Coach Quattrocchi had them attacking the rim and finishing in the paint at a much higher rate than in the past few games. That aggression showed in the field goal percentage as they were 32 of 64 from the floor and shot 17 free throws.
The Timberwolves finish their first half with a game on Sunday, December 10th at Onondaga before the winter break.
