Timberwolves Fall on Big Night For Smith
Alexis Smith set the school record for three point field goals, but it wasn't enough as they fell 75 to 68.
The Timberwolves traveled to Syracuse to take on the Onondaga Lazers and gave them everything they could handle, except a loss. The score was never in favor of either team by more than two possessions throughout the game as the Lazers and Timberwolves exchanged big plays in a thrilling contest. The Lazers led 16 to 15 after the first quarter, but the Timberwolves took a 32 to 30 lead into the half. Onondaga would regain the lead in the third quarter, 52 to 50 and set up an exciting final quarter of play. Unfortunately the home team was able to go on a small run near the end of regulation and carry a 75 to 68 lead through the final buzzer.
The Timberwolves had several stand out performances. Alexis Smith set the school record for three point field goals in a game with 8 in by far her best competition of her young career. She went 8 for 13 from beyond the arc including a step back three to tie the game in the third quarter. Her 24 points led the team in scoring. Kaicey Sardina collected another double, double with 16 points and 12 rebounds joined by her teammate Kylee Brand who netted 14 points and grabbed 10 boards before fouling out late in the game.
The Timberwolves next play after the winter break on January 17th at home versus Word of Life.
