Brand's Big Day Not Enough
The Twins of Columbia-Greene defeated the Timberwolves 86 to 70 despite a big day from Kylee Brand.
Brand kept it close to the half with a monster first half. She poured in points and forced several time outs as the coaching staff echoed the fans with exclamations of "find 33!" She ended the half with 16 points and 8 rebounds which kept the game within striking distance at 11, but it wouldn't last.
Turnovers were the story of the game as the Timberwolves turned the ball over more than 20 times and the Twins capitalized on those mistakes by extending the lead in the third quarter to 21 points and rode that quarter to a 16 point victory.
McKinney played a very well rounded game as she collected 14 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. Kaicey Sardina added 5 rebounds, but wasn't able to find open shots as she ended the contest 2 of 4 from the floor for 7 points. Ashley Caba added 9 points and slashed the Twins defense all day, ending up 4 of 7 from the floor and 1 for 1 from beyond the arc.
Brand led the team in points with 27 and rebounds with 14.
The Timberwolves next play at Schenectady on Monday, January 22nd.
