Coach Votra and the women's soccer team traveled to Onondaga on Monday to take on the Lazers. The Lady Timberwolves played valiantly and gave the home team everything they could handle as it was a defensive struggle throughout the contest.
The Lazers would finally break through with just under 15 minutes to play in the first half with their first goal splitting the defense of the green and gold and just getting by goal keeper Kaylee Coon to give them a lead they would never relinquish. Their second and final goal was a hotly contested play that saw the Lazer attacker kick the ball through the legs of the goal keeper who had her hands on the ball at the time. Despite a brief conversation between the official and Coach Votra the goal would stand and cement the final score of 2-0.
Kaylee Coon had a tremendous game, despite giving up the two goals as she was able to collect 10 saves as well as several interceptions and clearances. Wasan Fleming played through leg cramps to have a great defensive game and Hannah Gould showed off a strong leg as she put the ball on the goal twice with velocity, but just couldn't sneak it past the goal keeper.
To quote Coach Votra, "unlucky."
The Lady Timberwolves next take on Herkimer College in their home opener on Wednesday.
