Women's Soccer Defeat Word of Life on Autism Awareness Day
The Lady Timberwolves defeated Word of Life 1-0 on Autism Awareness Day
The Lady Timberwolves took the field to compete with Word of Life, a Bible Institute that competes unaffiliated, as temperatures rose to record highs. The officiating crew was forced to utilize water break time outs several times during the match to keep the student-athletes and crew safe and well.
The heat wouldn't stop the Timberwolves offense from blasting and firing shots on goal all day, although only one was able to melt the defense and change the scoreboard. The team combined for 24 shots with 14 of those being on goal. Hannah Gould led the team with 10 shots, followed by Kayla Bizon's 6 and Abigail Dickinson's 5. Gould made good on all of those shot attempts at the 34:58 mark in the first half as her shot sailed past the Word of Life keeper for the sole goal of the match.
Kaylee Coon continued her march toward history as she collected 9 more saves and leads NJCAA Division III in saves.
The Timberwolves next play Wednesday at Tompkins Cortland.
