Hudson Valley Wins Battle For I-87
Hudson Valley won in straight sets after taking tough sets 2 and 3.
Coach Li's Timberwolves hosted Hudson Valley for a rivalry game between opponents that fight for the I-87 recruiting trail. The first set saw Isabella Shrestha dominate on the front line to the tune of 5 kills and a block, but it wasn't enough as the Vikings took the set 25-17. The second set was a back and forth battle for service and it came down to extra points as the Timberwolf defense refused to go down without a fight. Victoria Bruni, Maya Phillips and Tylor Graham combined for 57 digs with libero, Kaicey Sardina adding 15 of her own for the match, many of which came in the hotly contested 2nd and 3rd sets. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough as HVCC took the second set 26-24. The third set was more of the same from the rivals, as they went back and forth with the Timberwolves holding a 4 point lead at one point, which was the largest lead of the set. The Vikings fought back and took the set 25-23, though to end the hopes of the home team.
Breanna MacDuff assisted on 25 kills and spread the ball around nicely in this match as she found 10 kills for Isabella Shrestha, 8 for Maya Phillips, 8 for Tylor Graham and 7 for Victoria Bruni.
The Timberwolves next play on the 11th at home versus Mohawk Valley.
