Volleyball Sweeps Hawks in Straight Sets
The Timberwolves took the home match from Mohawk Valley in straight sets.
The Volleyball team clipped the wings of the Mohawk Valley Hawks early in the match and cruised through the first two sets, despite scores that made it seem closer than it was. The Timberwolves took the first set 25 to 20 and the second set 25 to 21, but were never in any danger of dropping either set. The power of Tylor Graham and Isabella Shrestha led the team through much of those two sets. Shrestha collected 7 of her 8 kills in those first two sets and Graham tallied 8 of her 11. Maya Phillips was the story of the third set as Mohawk Valley put together their best effort of the night and held a 3 point lead as late in the match as 23-20, but great serving from Breanna MacDuff, who had 2 of her 3 aces in the third set, and outstanding play from Maya Phillips who had 5 kills and an ace in the set allowed the Timberwolves to come all of the way back and take the final set 25-23.
Kaicey Sardina led all defenders with 19 digs and Breanna MacDuff was solid as usual from the setter position.
The Timberwolves next play at North Country in POD play on Saturday the 14th.
