Volleyball Opens Preseason In Vermont
Coach Li and the Timberwolves traveled to Vermont to open their preseason against NCAA opponents, Southern Vermont, Castleton and Norwich.
They played a double header at Southern Vermont on Friday and although they were swept 3-0, 3-0, the sets were very close and Coach Li got a lot of repetitions for his freshmen. It was a great showing for freshmen Emily Vetere, Jana DePalo, Megan Friske and Leah Bowen. Vetere led the first match in kills with 6, but was outdone in the second match by her freshman counterpart DePalo who found the hard wood 10 times. Frisk and Bowen shared duties as libero and averaged 5 digs per set.
The team regrouped and went back across the border to Castleton on Saturday to take on Norwich and Castleton. In the first match the team took the first set 26-24 and that seemed to be the nudge they needed to come into their own because they never looked back from there. They took the second set 25-18 and lost the third set 18-14 in a time shortened game and set.
They then swept Castleton in time shortened sets, with Leah Bowen putting up an outstanding showing from the libero position.
The Timberwolves next play at home versue Green Mountain on September 5th at 7pm.
