Timberwolves Take Opening Match Versus Corning
The Timberwolves opened POD play against Corning and took a win, 3 sets to 1.
Adirondack opened the contest with a convincing 25 to 15 first set on the strong right arm of Jana Depalo. Depalo crushed 4 kills and blocked another to pace the squad and set the bar for the match. The second set saw Corning take it by 4 points, but Coach Li rallied his troops and righted the ship moving into set 3.
The home team took the third set 25 to 17. Breanna MacDuff collected 14 of her 47 assists in the third set, spreading the opportunities to all of her teammates. She did such a great job passing that 3 of her teammates had 4 kills each, Karley Hertzner, Morgan Bellanger and Depalo.
They closed it out with a 25 to 21 fourth set that saw much of the same balance. Depalo, Hertzner and Bellanger killed 5 points each from the front line.
Jana Depalo led the offense with 17 kills and 2 blocks, followed by Hertzner with 13 kills and 3 blocks and Bellanger with 11 kills and 4 blocks. Leah Bowen led the defense with 28 digs.
