Baseball Recovers with Dominant Win, go 1-1 at Cayuga
The SUNY Adirondack Baseball team went 1-1 against Cayuga Community College this afternoon in Auburn, NY.
The first game of the afternoon ended in a 8-7 loss for SUNY Adirondack. What was a 4-0 lead for the Timberwolves in the third inning turned into a 7-7 tie going into the final inning. They would give up a double with two outs before a single would score the game winning run for Cayuga.
Joe Batista had a hot bat in the loss, going 4-4 in at bats with a home run and three RBI’s.
The Timberwolves recovered strong and put on a dominant performance in game two of the doubleheader, winning 14-4 in five innings. Adirondack scored four runs in the first inning to get out to the early lead. They put the game away in the fourth inning when they scored eight runs, highlighted by a grand slam home run by Brent McGhee and a home run from Josh Myers.
Zach Malek picked up the win while pitching a complete game and striking out two batters.
Brent McGhee lead the offense going 4-4 in at bats that led to three runs and six RBI’s.
With the split today the Timberwolves now sit at 11-19-1 on the season and 8-7-1 in conference play.
SUNY Adirondack will be back in action on Thursday afternoon when they will play Cayuga Community College twice more to close out the season series. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM at East Field Stadium in Glens Falls, NY.
