Bio

Kea Whittington joins SUNY Adirondack as a volunteer assistant coach working under her father, Coach Tavarres. She played high school basketball in Wisconsin. Over three consecutive years she served as team captain, received MVP and earned All Conference. In addition, she participated in AAU tournaments all over the US.

As a first-year student athlete at Clarke University (NAIA Division 1), she was awarded ‘MCC Newcomer of the Year’ and led her team to back-to-back national tournaments. For two years, Whittington led the nation in steals and assists and was a recipient of “Defender of the Year”. During her senior year, she received the ‘Ed Colbert’, senior female student athlete award, in recognition of her outstanding career achievements in Clarke University athletics.

Whittington’s career scoring at Clarke was 1400 pts with an average of 11 ppg.
She holds records at Clarke University including:
#1 in steals and assists
#7 in career scoring total
#6 in free throw percentage
#1 in games played
#5 in field goal percentage

Whittington has coaching experience working youth basketball camps. She also coached girls and boys 5th grade basketball in Iowa. She is currently employed at Cap Cana Heritage School as a 5th grade teacher and head coach for the high school boys basketball team.

Whittington earned her Bachelors degree in Education and Masters degree in Education Leadership from Clarke University with an endorsement in Coaching K-12 and Special Education K-6. Throughout her years at Clarke, she made the Dean’s List 4 times.
