Cecil Takes Game 1
The Timberwolves traveled up from Myrtle Beach to Maryland to siege Cecil College and found a battle to be had.
The green and gold scored 3 early runs in the first inning on a triple from Erik Wettersten and double from Vincent Valenti with a few infield grounders mixed in from Brent McGhee and Greg Johnson, but Cecil got 2 of them back in the bottom of the inning, which set the tone for the rest of the game.
Coach Job's squad added to their lead in the 4th inning as Johnson and Valenti led the inning off with back to back doubles, followed by a sacrifice from John Stewart and RBI ground out from Eric Corhouse to take a 5 to 2 lead. The lead wouldn't last long however as the Cecil hitters immediately fired back with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the 4th to tie the contest at 5.
The 6th inning would sink the Timberwolves as Vavasour gave up 2 singles and his defense faltered behind him to give up 2 runs before he gave way to Josh Curri-Brimhall who gave up a double and homer before getting the 3rd and final out.
Cook led off the 7th with a single, but was ereased on a Matt Zita fielder's choice who would circle the bases and score, but would be the only run scored in the inning to cement the 11 to 6 loss.
Valenti broke out in the game with a 2 for 3 day with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and a walk. Wettersten continued to see the ball well, collecting 2 walks amidst his 1 for 2 day and crushed a triple.
The Timberwolves have game 2 of the double header coming right up.
