Baseball Falls Short In Road Opener

After some rescheduling, due to weather related issues, SUNY Adirondack Baseball opened their season on the road against Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland. It was the first of a 3-game set of weekend play.
Adirondack jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Kai Brennan singled, scoring a run and Chino Maldonado homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Rowan added two runs to the board in the bottom of the first and it was a stalemate for the next four innings. The Dukes came alive in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring four runs. The Timberwolves added a run in the top of the seventh but Rowan countered with another three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Adirondack came up short in the top of the eight, only producing two runs, before the inning closed out. Final score 9-6, Rowan College – Cumberland
Terel Tillman led things off on the mound for Adirondack. The righty gave up nine hits and six runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none. AJ Garcia took over for Tillman throwing 17 strikes but giving up three runs.
Kyle Kristel lead the Timberwolves with three hits in four at bats. Right fielder, Maldonado had two runs batted in and went 1-for-4 on the day.
