Men's Basketball Suffers Loss to Mohawk Valley
The SUNY Adirondack Men's Basketball team lost Saturday afternoon to the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks, 114-83.
The Timberwolves came out ready to play and hung with the top ranked team in Region III in the opening minutes, but ultimately were not able to keep it up. A 20-17 game turned into a 52-31 Hawks lead at the half and put the Timberwolves in a hole they could not recover from.
Sophomore guard Tavon Price again led the way on offense for the Timberwolves, this time scoring 32 points on again better than 50 percent shooting. Price was also perfect from the free-throw line, sinking all 8 attempts. Price also included 9 rebounds and a team high 8 assists in arguably his best game in a Timberwolves uniform. This game marked the fifth consecutive game Price has scored at least 30 points.
Freshman center Devon Singleton also had played a great game for the Timberwolves. He was a perfect 8-8 from the field, scoring 18 points to go along with a team high 12 rebounds and a career high 7 assists. Singleton also had a game leading 5 blocks in the loss. In his first 8 games of his Timberwolves career, he is averaging 4 blocks per game.
Freshman guard Christian Russell was the third Timberwolves player to reach double digits in scoring. Russell scored 15 points on 7-13 shooting.
Following the loss, the Timberwolves are now 1-19 on the season. They will be back in action on Wednesday, February 5th, when they will travel to face Davis College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
