Men's Basketball Comes up Short in Turkey Classic Finale
Haverhill, MA – December 1, 2024
The SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves fought hard but came up short in a 92-77 loss to Northern Essex Community College on Sunday in the second game of the Northern Essex Turkey Classic. The first half saw both teams exchange leads multiple times before a 21-6 run by Northern Essex gave the Knights a commanding 21-point lead at the break.
The Timberwolves showed resilience in the second half, mounting a comeback led by Jaylan Sammy, who scored 14 points, including 4 three-pointers, and grabbed 8 rebounds. Sophomore Tyre Williams also finished with 14 points in the losing effort. Despite the strong second-half push, Adirondack couldn't overcome the deficit.
Tyre Williams and Xavier Sanchez were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their standout performances over the weekend.
Adirondack (5-2) will return home next weekend to host a doubleheader against regional rivals. The Timberwolves will face Finger Lakes Community College on Saturday at 3:00 PM and Cayuga Community College on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
