Men's Basketball Secures Thrilling Win Over Fulton-Montgomery CC, Clinches Top 5 Finish in Region 3

SUNY Adirondack Men's Basketball continued their strong performance this season with a hard-fought 70-68 victory over Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Wednesday. With the win, Adirondack improves to 16-6 overall and secures a top 5 finish in the competitive NJCAA Region 3 for the second consecutive season.
The game was a thrilling back-and-forth affair, with Fulton-Montgomery holding as much as an 11-point lead during the first half. Despite trailing 33-29 at the break, Adirondack showed resilience, clawing back in the second half with a spirited performance. The team was led by sophomore guard Xavier Sanchez, who finished the game with 18 points and 5 rebounds, igniting the offense down the stretch.
Contributions came from multiple players, including Tyre Williams (11 points), Jude Wilkins (11 points), and Messiah McLaurin, who was excellent from the free-throw line, going 9-10 and scoring all of his points from the stripe. The game remained tight, with neither team able to pull away.
As the clock ticked down, it was freshman Edison Hernandez who would become the hero. With just five seconds remaining, Hernandez scored the game-winning basket in transition, sealing the victory for Adirondack and securing a dramatic finish to an intense contest.
Looking ahead, Adirondack now has one day off before embarking on a stretch of three consecutive games to close out the regular season. The team will face tough competition on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the NJCAA Regional Playoffs set to begin next week.
