Bio

Robb MacDonald returned to SUNY Adirondack Men’s Soccer in February 2023 as the Head Coach after a two year hiatus.  

Coach MacDonald attended Pitzer College in Claremont, California, where he played for the NCAA Division III Pomona-Pitzer men’s soccer team. In his final two years of college, he served as head coach of the 5C Claremont Colleges men’s club team, which competed against other top college club teams, UNLV, UCLA, USD, etc. He also worked with the Claremont-based U17 Celtic SC boys’ team, which was ranked in the top 10 in the state and top 100 nationally, in addition to co-running a cooperative program (community and college) to get Celtic SC players into the computer lab to help them with the college admissions and recruiting process.

Since his time out West, Coach MacDonald has had a variety of experiences in diverse coaching environments. He served as the Assistant Coach for the SUNY Adirondack Men’s Soccer program for three years and has held numerous head coaching positions with the Saratoga Wilton Soccer Club (SWSC), Saratoga Springs High School and Eastern New York Soccer Association’s Olympic Development Program (ODP).

Coach MacDonald is currently the SWSC’s Technical Director and Head Coach of the U16-U19 boys’ program. In the ODP environment, he has coached the 2006-09 girls and the 2007-08 boys and staffed regional camps.

Beyond the soccer pitch, Coach MacDonald has continued to educate himself on numerous aspects of the game. In 2023, he completed an M.S. in Soccer Recreation and Sports Science from Ohio University, one of the few soccer-specific coaching programs in the nation. He also has a C License from the United States Soccer Federation. Additionally, Coach MacDonald has completed TOVO Academy coursework and earned certificates in soccer analytics.

Coach MacDonald graduated from Pitzer College with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Environmental Science & Politics.
