Timberwolves Ride Wild Second Set To Victory

The Timberwolves had been trying to find their stride all season, but found it in grand fashion against the Raiders.

The first set was a dominant effort from the home team as Jana Depalo, Emily Vetere and Karley Hertzner each had at least 3 kills. The balanced attack led to a 25 to 14 first set win.

The second set was one for the ages as the Raiders took a 6 point lead late in the set, but saw Coach Li's squad fight back and tie it up at 24 on a big right handed spike from Hertzner. Breanna MacDuff, who was the rock of the offense all match, set beautifully in the extra points as well as played exceptional defense to keep the team alive as the points added up. The lead changed twice, but the Timberwolves eventually came out on top, 29 to 27.

The third set seemed like a mere formality as the Raiders fell behind early and never got back into it. Vetere was the star of the offense in the third set as she collected 5 kills and a block assist to lead the team in points.

Karley Hertzner ended the match with 9 kills, 1 block, 1 block assist and 3 aces to edge out Emily Vetere's 8 kills, 2 block assists and 3 aces for the team lead in points. Leah Bowen was a defensive stalwart as she dug 16 balls for the team and MacDuff assisted on 28 kills. 

The Timberwolves next play at Niagara in pod play against Niagara, Jamestown and Erie.
